Pacifica RV Park California. Tuesday 1st April 2008 Today is April Fools Day & we are leaving Smithwoods RV Park at Felton in the Santa Cruz Mountains a beautiful camp spot with the most fantastic camp fire site. We were backing out of our camp site & going really well & then bang we were at a stand still & both said 'what the hell have a hit?' No worry's it was only the speed hump I don't know where it came from! One of the workers in the RV Park who Wayne had been talking to during our stay came out to say goodbye to us & he said are you going to Santa Cruz? well don't turn left at the entrance as it is to dangerous to drive that way as the road is narrow & winding. Wayne said thats the way we drove up & then the worker laughed & said ok be adventureous go back that way. Anyway it was a beautiful drive down the mountain even though it was a narrow & winding road. We drove through Santa Cruz pretty easy & for some reason neither of us liked Santa Cruz at all & then we continued along the coast road toward San Francisco which is about a two hour drive but & we were going to stop overnight at Half Moon Bay which was only 1.5 hours away & this looked like a pretty little coastal village.
We found the only caravan park but it did not look to inviting so we continued down the road & ended up at the security box & guard at the Ritz Carlton Hotel & Golf Course & it was another very rich place on the beach. The security guard said to drive around here, there & there & we had no idea where we were going & tried to turn around & come back out & nearly ran over the putting green & the golfers were giving us very dirty looks. When we were passing the security guard we stopeed & asked where there any other Caravan Parks in the area & the guard said no & Wayne asked - is it ok if we camp in your car park? the guard just laughed & said they would not like that. Wayne then said well we will have to go up the road & change into my tuxcedo before I come back! We then drove around Half Moon Bay village & Wayne said he wanted to ask a boating business how much the wooden ships wheel would be valued at so Wayne called into a boating shop & showed the lady who owned the business the photo of the wheel & she said it was very uncommon to be able to purchase a ships wheel!!! I wonder why - now I am wondering what happened to the ship that the wheel was originally 'attached to'!!?? Anyway this lady gave Wayne an address of The Fishermans Supply business at Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco, so wait for the next update on 'The Wheel of Fortune'. After leaving Half Moon Bay there was miles & miles of prime flat coastal land right on the beach which had vegetable farms planted we were amazed. We would like to know if vegetables are worth more than land in this area as in Queensland waterfront land is worth heaps. We made it to the San Francisco RV Park right on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean which is 15 minutes from the Candlestick RV Park where we are booked into Thursday. Apparently if you swim out 100 ft in front of us in the ocean you could see the Golden Gate Bridge which is just around the headland.
